Can LUU provide any financial support?

LUU has set up an Emergency Hardship fund to offer short term support for students who are in immediate financial difficulty. To be eligible, you must be a current registered student at the University and be able to show that you are unable to meet essential costs such as rent, bills, food over the next 4 weeks or so. To apply, you must fill out the application form which you can get from the Advice team and then send this back once complete.

The evidence you need is outlined on the form, and includes:

  • Latest 3 months bank statements (with transactions £100 and over explained)

  • Current tenancy agreement

  • Bills letters

  • Valid visa (if applicable/if you are an international student)

  • Any other essential expenditures you may have

LUU Student Advice team can help you with applying for this fund and can talk to you about other options like debt negotiation and budgeting. Please email us or phone us on 0113 380 1420.

If you’ve found yourself in an extreme situation such as homelessness or having no food, LUU can also help, so please get in touch with us as soon as possible.
